Hi there, I started playing the clarinet in 1979 but never really became a great p_layer_. I still practice occasionally (mostly classical music). Lately I have been tempted to buy a saxaphone and become more of a serious p_layer_. Questions: 1. What difficulties will a Clarinet p_layer_ encounter - technically? 2. Are there disadvantages being a clarinet p_layer_ moving to Saxaphone? 3. Should I consider Soprano instead of Tenor? 4. What will be a good investment in terms of a model (perhaps a used one). 5. I have been using a Selmer Clarinet (made of ebony wood).   Thanks for your advice, Adrian

4. What will be a good investment in terms of a model (perhaps a used one). If you're looking for an investment, old Selmers seem to get more expensive every year. I made the switch in high school from clarinet to tenor. It took me a couple of weeks to get used to the fingerings, which are basically the same as the upper register of the clarinet. You should be in great shape to play sax.
